Ohio’s grandparents accused of beating and torturing their stepson

Several Ohio grandparents are behind bars after allegedly involved in harsh punishments in which their daughter is accused of forcing her stepson, a minor boy who police say was so ill-treated that he developed “Atrophy in the legs” and post-traumatic stress.

“If there is a victim of this kind of abuse, it’s tragic,” Delhi police lieutenant Joe McAluzo told Fox News Digital. “And when you have someone who is vulnerable, like a child or an old man, it makes you sick.

Armin and Susan Rodriguez, aged 71 and 68, were held in Hamilton County Jail on charges of endangering children.

Macaluso said the extent of the abuse made the case “difficult to deal with”.

The sentences are said to last for years and include forcing the boy to stay in a room alone, beating him and restricting his food, investigators told the victim, his underage brother and other relatives, according to Makaluzo.

“He was not allowed to urinate unless he had received permission from his mother before or from his grandmother,” McAluzo said. “And he was not allowed to eat the same things that everyone else would eat.

The investigation grew out of previous allegations against the victim’s father and stepmother, who were accused of similar abuses by a neighboring department in February, McAluzo said.

“When the authorities in that jurisdiction conducted a forensic interview with the child, he said that the same type of treatment was provided by his grandparents in my jurisdiction,” he said. “He will go to the house of his grandparents, their daughter will say she is in trouble and he will be in time-out or punished.”

Court records obtained from Fox News Digital show that stepmother Amy Rodriguez Dangel faces 11 charges of endangering children for allegations that she “recklessly tortured or cruelly abused” the boy between January 2018 and April 2021. Her the boy’s husband and father, Anthony Dangel, is facing a single charge of alleged breach of his duty of care.

Makaluzo said the grandparents were brought in directly by a grand jury. They are due to return to court on June 3.

“The torture of this young child is unimaginable,” Hamilton County Attorney Joe Deters told local media following his grandparents’ allegations, according to FOX 19. “He is safe now and with family members who love him.” .
