Armed police are involved in a clash with an unidentified person hidden in a property in the West Park area of Plymouth.
Locals in the Ringmore Way area said they first saw police, firefighters and paramedics at the site around 5.30pm on Tuesday. Some say they saw police in the Woodlands Court tower near Cheriton Close.
A police cordon was later set up. The incident lasted until evening without permission, and late Tuesday, some residents said homes nearby had been “evacuated”.

In the early hours, armed police officers could be seen surrounding a property in the cordon, while a police officer was seen from a high view of what looked like an open balcony in an apartment building opposite the home.
An update issued by a Devon and Cornwall police spokesman around 2 a.m. confirmed that the clash was still ongoing, about nine hours after emergency services were first called to the scene. “This is an ongoing reaction of the police and we are currently negotiating with someone in one of the properties,” the spokesman added.
“This is a permitted deployment of firearms and there is no risk to the general public.
