Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 6:28 pm – A cold front, which is entering the summer heat and humidity, led to widespread severe thunderstorms in southern Ontario on Wednesday.
Heavy thunderstorms erupted over southern Ontario on Wednesday as the cold front entered a hill of summer heat and humidity parked over the region.
Powerful storms blossomed along the cold front that engulfed the southern half of the province. People from Windsor to the Niagara area had to contend with strong gusts of wind, hail, and torrential rains as the storms passed.

Drivers had difficulty navigating local roads as the rains reduced visibility to dangerously low levels.
Strong gusts of wind knocked down trees and power lines, and a downed tree even pulled out a traffic light in Windsor. Hydro One reported that about 20,000 customers were left without power until mid-afternoon on Wednesday, with interruptions covering the entire province.
Most of the interruptions were centered around the heart of the storm on Wednesday afternoon, although several thousand interruptions were delayed by early morning storms in eastern Ontario and several earlier severe weather cycles in northern province.
