Police say they have reason to believe that the fatal shooting at the Laval restaurant on Wednesday night has possible links to organized crime.
Laval Police (SPL) received numerous calls until 911 at 19:25 for a shooting at La Perle restaurant on Des Laurentides Boulevard in Laval’s Vimont district.
When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man with at least one gunshot wound.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was found dead.
The 42-year-old man identified by Sûreté du Québec (SQ) as Bernard Scherfan is known to have links to organized crime.
Until Thursday morning, SQ was still unable to provide a physical description of the suspect, nor to say whether he escaped on foot or by vehicle.
Investigators and forensic scientists searched the restaurant’s parking lot and checked surveillance cameras to determine the events that led to the shooting.
Police have also set up two command posts to gather information about the shooting.
