A woman died in Snowdonia after falling while climbing a mountain

A woman died after falling while climbing a mountain in Snowdonia yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

The incident occurred at Glyder Fach when the climber reportedly fell along the route of the mountain precipice and was unconscious as nearby climbers tried to help her. According to the mountain rescue services of Augien Vali, which were warned about the incident at 2.30 pm, she was then boarded by a helicopter of the Coast Guard, but unfortunately did not survive.

At the time, the woman was climbing with a partner who was assisted in the descent and supported by members of the mountain rescue team after the accident, according to North Wales Live.

In a statement, the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team said: “The second signal of the day came at 2.30pm for reports of a fallen Glyder Fach climber. A leading climber fell on Chasm Route and was reported to be unconscious, nearby climbers moved in to help and the Coast Guard helicopter swan injured, but unfortunately she had not survived.

“The climbers then helped their partner get back down the ascent to the waiting team members and she was taken care of at the base. The thoughts of the team are with the family of the victims, friends and the climbing partner, the team would also like to thank the helping climbers for all their help. “
