June 4 (Reuters) – Russia’s anti-aircraft forces have dropped dozens of Ukrainian weapons and “smashed them like nuts,” President Vladimir Putin said in a short excerpt from an interview broadcast Saturday.
The RIA news agency, which first quoted comments, quoted Putin as answering a question about US-supplied weapons, saying Russia was doing an easy job and had already destroyed a dozen weapons.
But a video of Sunday’s interview revealed that Putin was actually answering a different question that was not shown.
“Our anti-aircraft systems are crunching like nuts. Dozens have been destroyed,” Putin said.
Although the exact type of weapon is unclear, Russia says it has destroyed both planes and missiles fired by Ukraine.
