A man has been arrested on charges of murder in the death of a mother of two in Queens, who was brutally murdered in her own home, stabbed 58 times and dropped on the street in a luggage bag, three law enforcement and police sources said Thursday.
David Bonola, 44, of Queens, has also been charged with criminal manipulation and possession of a weapon in the murder of 51-year-old Orsola Gaal, police said. Law enforcement sources say he worked as a foreman for Gaal and lived near her.
According to sources, Bonola showed up at her home and the two quarreled, although it is not clear when exactly this happened or what the fight was about. It is alleged that the master killed her in her own basement, sources said.
Additional information is expected at a press conference later on Thursday, sources said. The case puzzled investigators and those who had known Gaal for nearly a week.
Investigators said they were focused on a man who knew Gaal and had access to her home in Forest Hills. Probably that’s why there were no signs of forced entry, sources say. Forensic evidence was gathered from her home on Juneau Street.

Gaal was last seen alive nearly a week ago at Forest Hills Station House, a gathering place popular with locals. Police believe Gaal was killed after returning from the gastropub sometime after 12:30 a.m., when manager Gabriel Veras last remembers seeing the victim.
Veras said Gaal always smiled, dined alone and was kind to the staff – and although he remembers seeing her for about 45 minutes from Friday night to early Saturday, the manager did not remember that she seemed to be in any danger. or is worried.
“She was here on Friday, right in the center of the bar. He ate a Moscow mule, he ate. I spoke to several of my employees who know her, joking in conversation, “Veras said. “She was very, very sweet. She left alone and the next day we were in shock. Shock. “
“She was calm, collected, in the middle of the bar, just holding on and talking to the staff,” Veras added. “Nothing unusual. She didn’t look scared, scared, or panicked. I just enjoyed a drink before I got home.
The details of the attack are appalling, as law enforcement sources said Gaal was stabbed about 58 times in the neck, torso and left arm. Sources also said she had wounds on her hands, which were probably from her attempts to fight the attacker.
A chilling surveillance video shows a man who may have killed her, according to police sources. The man was seen on home security camera spinning a hockey bag on 75th Avenue, with Gaal’s body believed to be inside.
Police made the disturbing discovery of her body on Saturday morning after a caller at 911 warned officers of the crime scene by the roadside. New York police said Gaal’s body was found near Jackie Robinson Boulevard and Metropolitan Avenue just before 8:30 a.m., about half a mile from her home, after a jogger spotted a blood-soaked luggage bag near a busy walkway.
Law enforcement sources said a blood trail led detectives back to her home.
Three days after Orsola Gaal was found dead, police offered a $ 3,500 reward leading to the arrest of her killer. Mark Santia of NBC New York reports.
Gaal’s 13-year-old son, who lives in the home, was questioned by police and later released, sources said. Investigators believe Gaal was attacked in his basement while his teenage son was on the top floor of the home.
Police said her husband and another son were out of town attending West Coast colleges when her body was found. Sources told NBC New York that around 5 a.m. Saturday, the killer is believed to have sent Gaal’s husband a threatening text message from her phone.
The forensic medical service confirmed that Gaal’s death was classified as murder due to “acute neck injuries”.

Flower homage continued to grow in the front yard of Gaal’s home as police were still inside looking for clues. Social media also paid tribute, praising Gaal’s kindness.
No possible motive was shared. Law enforcement sources said the attack was not accidental and that the public was not in danger.
