Toronto Police Raise More Than 60 Arrest Charges for Firearms and Drug Trafficking

Three men face a combined 66 charges after being arrested for trafficking in firearms and drugs in Toronto.

Police said that in November 2021, members of the service’s drug department launched an investigation into drug trafficking and firearms in the city.

The operation involved an undercover officer who, according to police, was able to successfully buy three pistols and a quantity of cocaine powder from the suspects.

After the purchase, police said investigators were issued a number of search warrants that they used to seize additional firearms and a cache of powdered cocaine, fentanyl and crack cocaine.

In all, the operation – called Project FI – saw three loaded semi-automatic pistols, a loaded semi-automatic rifle and additional ammunition removed from the streets, police said in a press release issued Thursday.

Investigators also seized 549.28 grams of cocaine powder, 134.63 grams of fentanyl, 55.27 grams of crack cocaine, bulletproof vests, brass knuckles and Canadian, American and European currency, police said.

Bardi Kadriu, 18, Umer Tanoli, 20, and Taha Yusuf Sheikh, 23, all from Toronto, face a combined 66 charges in connection with the investigation.
