Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have registered interest in Roma defender Roger Ibanes, who could be sold for 30 million euros this summer.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are interested in providing the services of Brazilian Roma defender Roger Ibanez, who may be sold this summer.
Ibanez spent the first years of his career in Brazil before moving to Europe in January 2019, when he joined Atalanta from Fluminense. A year later, the 23-year-old signed an 18-month loan with Roma, with the transfer being made permanently through last year’s summer window.
Ibanez is a regular in the Jalorossi squad and has competed 51 times in all competitions, helping Jose Mourinho’s team win the UEFA Europa League. Although he signed a contract until the summer of 2025, Roma is open for sale this summer if an offer of about 30 million euros arrives.
And Ibanes is now attracting interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United monitoring his situation at the Stadio Olimpico.

It is no secret that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is on the market for defensive reinforcements this summer, with Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan as a priority. Lilliwaits are ready to offer 30 million euros plus Davinson Sanchez to sign with the Italian in the summer to add a high-quality left-back to his list.
However, as Jaffet Tanganga and Joe Rodden are likely to retire and Sanchez’s future is also uncertain, another center-back at Tottenham Hotspur will be needed to ensure quality depth in the team. For this purpose, Ibanes can be a convenient asset, given that he has already gained a lot of experience at the highest level and is only 23 years old.
Newcastle United are also interested in Ibanes, as manager Eddie Howe wants to add more quality to his defensive line-up. The Magpies, survivors of the threat of relegation, are planning some major moves in the summer market, and strengthening the defense remains a key issue, with end players such as Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez expected to leave.
He saw Newcastle United connect with a number of defenders, including Sven Botman, who remains a key target for the Tinders. But as he is close to joining AC Milan, it is good for Newcastle to identify alternative options, and Roger Ibanes could be one such Plan B for the club, along with Merich Demiral.
The 30m-euro price is unlikely to be a problem for Tottenham or Newcastle. The only question that remains is whether the interest of the two clubs in the Premier League is specific enough to start an offer for the Brazilian.
