Here’s the way the Toronto subway closes this weekend (June 11-12)

Some special events and festivals taking place in Toronto this weekend will close many city streets.

If you leave on Saturday and Sunday, here is a list of closed roads and public transport that you should keep in mind.

ACTIVE

The following roads will be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday:

  • Bayview Avenue from Rosedale Valley Road to Lauren Harris Square

  • River Street from Bayview Avenue and Spruce Street

  • Meadoway from Brimley Road to Scarborough Golf Club Road

TTC

There will be no metro on line 1 between Lawrence and St. Clair this weekend due to the construction of Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

In addition, on Sunday, the metro service on line 2 between stations St. George and Broadview will begin at noon to ensure a change in the Price Edward viaduct beam.

EVENTS / FESTIVALS

Fundraising Ride to Conquer Cancer

  • The western lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed from Strachan to Windermere avenue from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday

Grilled Cheese Challenge Festival

  • The two lanes on Lake Shore West between Seventh and Second Streets from 5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday

Run for women

  • Queens Park Crescent East and West will be closed from College Street to Bloor Street West from 12:01 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The event will be in support of the Department of Psychiatry at the Women’s College Hospital

A word at the street festival

  • Queens Park Crescent East and West from Wellesley Street to Bloor Street West will be closed from 10:30 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday

Parade for the day of Portugal

  • Lansdowne Avenue will be closed between Bloor Street West and Colleges Street from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

RBC Canadian Open

  • Islington Avenue from Eglinton Avenue West to The Kingsway will remain closed until June 17 for the golf tournament.

TRANSIT

There will be no GO Train on the Stouffville line from 9pm Friday to Sunday. Instead, buses will provide services between the Union Bus Terminal and Unionville, Centennial, Markham, Mount Joy, Stouffville and Old Elm Stations. Buses will not serve Kennedy, Agincourt or Milliken GO stations.

There will also be no late-night GO Train service on Lake Shore West to Aldershot and West Harbor on Friday. Riders can take the GO bus route 18S.

CONSTRUCTION CLOSED

  • Jarvis Street from Carlton Street to Bloor Street East, including Ted Rogers Way, has been reduced to one lane in each direction for road renovations, sidewalk repairs and safety changes at the intersection.

  • Wellesley Street East from Ontario to the streets of Sherburn has been reduced to a western lane for the reconstruction of bike lanes and roads.

  • Wellington Street from Yonge to Church Streets has been reduced to a western lane to replace TTC tracks and pavement improvements.

  • The Queensway lanes between Parkside Drive and Roncesvalles Avenue have been reduced to a minimum of one shared lane in each direction for King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles (KQQR) TTC track replacement and road reconstruction work. King Street West is also closed at the KQQR junction.

WEATHER

Saturday will be a mixture of sunshine and clouds with a 30% chance of precipitation. The maximum temperature will be 23 degrees. Wet conditions are expected on Sunday, with showers. The maximum temperature will be 22 degrees.
