Russian caviar and diamonds affected by new UK sanctions Business news

The United Kingdom has imposed more sanctions on Russia against military leaders, as well as goods such as caviar and diamonds.

Azatbek Omurbekov, a lieutenant colonel nicknamed the “Bucha Butcher”, is one of the leaders of the Russian army affected by the new sanctions, according to the United Kingdom.

Britain will increase tariffs by 35% on Russian and Belarusian goods, including silver, diamonds and caviar.

According to Chancellor Rishi Sunak, the sanctions bring the total import duties and bans on Russian goods to more than £ 1 billion.

Sanctions Thursday also targeted individuals outside Russian President Vladimir Putin’s army who are actively supporting his invasion of Ukraine.

Among them are Oleg Belozerov, chief executive and chairman of the vital logistics company Russian Railways, and Ilya Kiva, a deserted and expelled Ukrainian lawmaker who publicly supported Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

“The corruption of Russia’s attack on the people of Ukraine is clear to everyone. “They are deliberately targeting hospitals, schools and transport centers in Mariupol and beyond – just as they did in Chechnya and Syria,” said Foreign Minister Liz Truss.

“The United Kingdom is adamant in our support for Ukraine and in holding Putin and his regime accountable. Today’s new wave of sanctions is hitting generals and defense companies that have blood on their hands.

More than 1,000 Russian oligarchs and organizations have been sanctioned since Putin launched the invasion of Ukraine a month ago.
