Dragon Age: Absolution is a new Netflix animated series that takes place in the fantasy world of your favorite BioWare series – and arrives this December.
Announced on the last day of Netflix Geeked Week, the trailer showed a show that mixes anime-like 2D animation with some 3D environments – and includes a lot of action, both in terms of melee and magic. Netflix says it is a stand-alone show created in collaboration with BioWare and includes “an ensemble of new characters inspired by the knowledge of Dragon Age.”
Although there are no character names and no idea where in the Dragon Age history the show takes place, Netflix has confirmed that the show takes place in Tevinter Imperium – also the setting for the next game, Dragon Age: Scary Wolf. The show will include “elves, mages, knights, kunars, red templars, demons and other special surprises”, with more details to be announced in the future.
The show’s showrunner is Meirgred Scott, who has written numerous animated shows, from Guardians of the Galaxy to Star Wars Resistance. Scott also writes about the upcoming Netflix Magic show: The Gathering.

We first heard rumors of a Draf Age Netflix series last year, and while many fans are excited about the prospect, Dragon Age creator David Gaider has previously expressed some doubts about the idea.
