Ottawa police prepare for convoy of Rolling Thunder Ottawa motorcycles in late April

Another group of protesters plan to make a noisy pass through Ottawa next weekend, and while it is unclear what the Rolling Thunder Ottawa is protesting about, they plan to declare their presence.

The motorcycle group is expected in Ottawa on April 29, and the city and the interim police chief say they are aware of the demonstration.

Little details are known about the protest, but the group is expected to remain in Ottawa until May 1st with planned rallies on Parliament Hill, slow protests and a stop at the National War Memorial.

Between 500 and 1,000 people are expected to attend, but there are concerns.

“Everyone has the right to protest, but at some point their purpose is unclear to me. What is their purpose? I don’t know if he should just come to the protest or something, “said Sam Hersh, an Ottawa resident who was affected by the Freedom Convoy, which occupied the center of the center for nearly a month before being evacuated in late February.

“My level of hesitation is around noise, especially if it’s a nice day and the courtyards are open in the center,” added Sarah Chaun, managing partner at Metropolitan Brasserie.

Metropolitan was imprisoned for several weeks during the convoy of freedom.

“I have to hope that this will be handled in the same way as the second smaller convoy that came a few weeks ago; they come, drive on their route, leave the city and the interruption is limited, “Chown said.

The rally, which took place in Ottawa in late March, lasted several hours, not several weeks.

What do Ottawa police say about this new convoy?

In a statement to CTV News on Thursday, the Ottawa Police Department said; “We continue to prepare for the planned demonstration (Rolling Thunder) on April 29 and 30.

Interim Chief Steve Bell will provide up-to-date information on police preparations for the convoy during a meeting of the Ottawa Police Board on Monday.

“We don’t want a repeat of what happened last time and we haven’t heard anything,” Hersh said.

It is not clear what the protesters want, but you can expect Canadian flags, chants of freedom and anti-Trudeau signs.

CTV News contacted one of the organizing groups, but did not receive a response until the story was broadcast on April 21.
