A 25-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stole a car with a small child in it from a gas station in North York on Thursday morning.
Toronto police said the incident happened around 11 am in the area of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue West.
After filling her car, a woman entered the station to pay, leaving her child in the back seat, police said.
While she was paying, police said, a man was driving a stolen car, got out of his car and got into the woman’s car.
Police said the man then left the station on Yonge Street with the child still inside.
The woman chased the car on foot, which attracted the attention of nearby employees.
Police said the man got out of the car and fled. However, he was later detained after a leg chase.
The child was not injured, police said.
