The critical reception did not harm the Jurassic World Dominion, locally or internationally

Jurassic World Dominion’s dominance at the box office was not unexpected, but it should not be taken for granted either. IN the supposed last part of the trilogy scored only 30% of Spoiled tomatoes‘critical reviews (although his audience’s rating was much more generous 79%). And to face the sequel to the Tom Cruise fighter pilot, which by comparison received 97% of critics of Spoiled tomatoes (99% audience rating), there could be cause for concern. However, the debut of the legacyquel worth $ 143.4 million brought more than Top Gunn: MaverickThe profit from Friday to Sunday is 124 million dollarsas well as $ 128.5 million launch The Batman.

MCU still holds the best box office awards to date for 2022, with Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earning a little more than Dominion with his Weekend opening for $ 185 million last month.

Threequel’s starting weekend figures are comparable to its predecessor, as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom made $ 148 million in its first weekend in 2018 (before COVID). The world’s first film grossed $ 209 million in its first weekend in the country. The latest blockbuster also has a good start internationally, attracting $ 389.1 million in the last few days. Top Gun: Maverick is poised to become Tom Cruise’s greatest blockbuster of all time

He may have fallen to No. 2 in the domestic box office charts this week, but with a drop of just 44% since his second week, Top Gun: Maverick is still strong and breaking records along the way. The sequel had the best weekend preview in Paramount’s history and gave Tom Cruise the best opening weekend ever. On top of that, it was the biggest weekend to open Memorial Day from Pirates of the Caribbean: The End of the World, and this gave the actor Film number 1 at the box office for its fifth consecutive decadestarting until the original Top Gun, released in 1986.

On top of that, Maverick will be the biggest film of Tom Cruise’s career, as international box offices reached $ 747 million this weekend. Deadline reported, which puts it easily within the reach of Cruise’s highest-grossing film to date – Mission Impossible – Fallout. This film grossed $ 787.2 million worldwide in 2018. Will Top Gun be able to cross that threshold in just one more week?

The bad guys continue to linger before the premiere of Pixar Lightyear

With no other new releases this week, there were few surprises in the rest of the Top 10. Everything Everywhere All At One and The Lost City continue to stay in the charts after an impressive 12 weeks. The Bad Boys also continues an impressive series, amassing $ 91.5 million after eight weeks in theaters.

Universal’s animated film starring Sam Rockwell has almost taken over the family market – along with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which also lingers for 10 weeks since its premiere – while audiences await the release of Lightyear on Friday, June 17. History of Origin on Toy Story will see Chris Evans take over the voice acting from Tim Allen, as the film is said to be the story of the space ranger on whom the toy is based. Expectations are high for Pixar’s return to the theater, even if so much of the critical reaction is centered around Sox, Buzz’s robotic cat companion.

Lightyear is likely to push out the Bad Boys and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as younger audiences and their parents rush to see the latest installment of their favorite franchise. But how will the PG-rated film compete with the slightly more mature films that dominate the box office this week? Come back next week to find out!
