Kinnos accent® Infection prevention tool that stains disinfectants it is now compatible with the most commonly used disinfectants in hospitals
NEW YORK – Kinnos, creators of Highlight, a critical disinfectant staining system, is launching its next generation of products at this year’s Conference of the Association of Infection Control Professionals (APIC) in Indianapolis, IN. Temporarily highlight the disinfectant wipes that hospitals already use, providing staff with a visual clue to see where they have been wiped out and immediately improving the quality of disinfection. Originally designed for use with liquid bleach and ready-to-use bleach during the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, Highlight can now color the most common type of disinfectant in healthcare, quaternary ammonium wipes (“quat”) wipes.

Highlight is now ready for widespread use in healthcare facilities that want to improve infection prevention practices and patient satisfaction. Highlight for Quat Wipes enables healthcare systems that use mainly quat-based disinfectant wipes to take advantage of Highlight. Peer-reviewed studies show that Highlight for Bleach Wipes improves cleaning results by up to 70%, demonstrating a significant opportunity to improve the quality of care in hospitals and ultimately outside.
“Asking someone to disinfect a surface with a clear disinfectant is like asking them to clean with a blindfold. Highlight essentially removes the curtain from cleaning staff, giving them the opportunity to improve their own performance, ”explains Jason Kang, CEO of Kinnos. “This critical compatibility of products means that more patients can be protected by using Highlight, a step we believe will drastically reduce the risk of infection.”

Kinnos’ rapid growth is due to the elegance of the product’s response to two major healthcare challenges: 1) manual cleaning is necessary but fraught with human error, and 2) patients seek evidence that the care environment is safe. By solving both problems, Highlight sees admissions from hospitals across the country. Earlier this year, Highlight was named one of the winners in the COVID-19 response challenge in partnership with New York / New Jersey Port Authorities.
“Quat products are also common in airports, public transportation systems and industrial cleaning,” Kang added. “We are proud to see Highlight’s viability far beyond healthcare to stop infections where society is at risk.”
