Looking for opinions about Knox

The city of Kelowna is looking for feedback on the future of Mount Knox.
The city is in the process of creating a new summit management plan that will help guide investment priorities and operational strategies planned for the next decade.
“The current management plan for Knox Mountain Park was developed in 2011 and although the key elements remain the same, including the vision and strategic objectives. However, timely issues such as forest fire hazards, leash-free dog considerations, cycling impacts and consumer volume were addressed through the audit, “said Melanie Stephen, Parks and Landscape Planner for Kelowna.
“Park users can expect increased safety and enjoyment, improved access and trails, improved signs and more over the decade.
The improvements will focus mainly on the addition of a permanent toilet, parking location and mobility improvements following last year’s decision on a two-year multimodal strategy for using the accessibility of Knox Mountain Drive vehicles. Improvements to the parking lot and stage area are also a priority for Knox Mountain East.
According to the city of Kelowna, the number of visitors to Knox Mountain Park has doubled during peak hours during the pandemic, with no signs of slowing down.
“Residents are encouraged to read the updated plan and get involved. “Mount Knox is truly a place for nature, people and governance,” said Stephen.
Kelowna residents are invited to participate in survey questions and forum discussions on the draft management plan before May 15 at getinvolved.kelowna.ca.
