Planning a demonstration of a convoy of “Freedom” for Montreal

A convoy of Freedom Fighters is scheduled for Saturday, with opponents of COVID-19 health measures expected to travel from Ottawa to Montreal for a rally in Lafontaine Park.

On his Facebook page, an organizer named Khan Ada angrily denounces Prime Minister Francois Lego that he may want to impose a new curfew on Friday.

“If it closes again on Friday, then on Saturday I invite all the people of Montreal to go out and stay outside,” he said. “All this stupid flu.”

There was no recent proposal for a new curfew from Quebec’s prime minister or interim director of public health, Dr. Luc Boalo, who conducted an update on COVID-19 on Thursday.

In a statement to CTV News, Sûreté du Québec said he was aware of the planned event and would closely monitor how vehicles make their way on Quebec’s highways.

The Montreal Police Department is also aware and plans to monitor the convoy as it arrives in Lafontaine Park.

A poster for the event says they expect to arrive at the park at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
