Marjorie Taylor Green denies wanting to stop Biden’s certification
Marjorie Taylor Green today appeared before an administrative judge during a hearing during which the Republican from Georgia may be banned from holding public office due to her alleged support for the January 6 uprising in the US Capitol.
The congresswoman was questioned about the Capitol riot in 2021 by attorney Ron Fein, representing a group of voters who challenged Georgia’s secretary of state’s office, claiming Ms. Green helped ease the attack, which ultimately seeks to violate Congressional certification for Joe Biden’s presidential election victory.
They say her behavior violates a clause in the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and makes her inadmissible for re-election.
Among other things, the case against the congresswoman depends on her repeated use of a “code word” – in particular, repeated references to the year 1776 – which, according to lawyers, encouraged the rebels who descended the Capitol.
For her part, Ms. Green appealed a federal judge’s decision to challenge her eligibility to run for re-election to continue, and in the hours before her hearing, a supporter of Trump went on Twitter to urge her fellow Republicans to “Defend the integrity of elections.”

Andrew Celli delivered his closing speech on the contenders.
He says the case breaks down into three points of proof:
1) that the candidate has taken an oath 2) that the uprising has arisen 3) that the candidate has committed and supported him
He says that the disqualification clause applies to all three things, that once the oath is taken, a person is given a special status and that he has responsibilities and consequences if you take the oath.

Concluding arguments are currently being made.
Rep Greene’s lawyer, Mr Bopp, said that section three of the 14th Amendment could no longer apply to anyone: “The simple argument for this is that the Amnesty Act of 1872 alleviates the damage under section 3.” to all people. ”
In this case, Representative Green is “of all people.”
Adam Klasfeld of Law & Crime notes that the act was introduced to forgive former confederations some of the penalties of the 14th Amendment, but a federal judge has already said it contradicts “common sense” to say it applies to future riots and not just the Civil War.
The amendment is written in the future tense, the Law is written in the past tense.
However, he noted that the argument worked for Madison Cotton’s representative.
