Toronto police arrest another suspect in fatal crash and run in downtown

A fifth suspect was arrested in a fatal crash and flight in downtown Toronto last week.

Toronto police say 41-year-old Nosahare Ochenchen was arrested Friday in the death of a 30-year-old woman who was hit by an alleged speeding vehicle near Spadina Avenue and King Street West in the early morning of April 14. .

The woman died of her wounds at the hospital two days later.

Ochenchen was accused of failing to stop at the scene of a fatal accident, obstructing a peacekeeper, public miscreant and aide after committing a felony.

He was due to appear in court on Friday.

Four other men were arrested and charged earlier this week in connection with the incident, including the alleged driver, who police said fled the scene at high speed shortly after hitting the woman.

After the four arrests, Toronto police told CP24 that the three men were not in the vehicle with the driver at the time of the collision and that the charges against them may be related to helping the driver evade officers.

Police continue to ask anyone with information to contact Traffic Services investigators anonymously at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
