The parents of a missing five-year-old boy are “completely devastated” but are grateful to all those involved in the search, says the leader of the first nations.
Frank Young was last seen Tuesday at his home in the nation’s Red Cree nation, located approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Saskatoon.
Young’s parents are not comfortable speaking in public, but Chief Marcel, head of the nearby Shoal Lake Cree nation, said they want people to know that help is appreciated.
“They are just completely overwhelmed, but they appreciate all the support, the advice,” Head told a news conference Friday afternoon.

Teams from all over Saskatchewan continue to search for the missing boy. The RCMP and various First Nations, as well as more than a dozen municipalities and other organizations help with the search, with food or supplies.
They search by plane with high-resolution cameras. There are searches with boats and underwater cameras, as well as pedestrian, transport and dog patrols.
Since Frank was last seen wearing a blue jacket, the RCMP says they kept a special watch for blue items. They found a few, such as a blue drink box, but nothing to help them find Frank.
“This is a difficult time … (but) times like this bring out the best in people,” said Michelle Vandeward, president of the Search, Rescue and Recovery Team at the Grand Council of Prince Albert.

Vandeward said they would work as hard as they could until Frank was found.
The RCMP said there was no indication that Frank had been abducted and was concentrating on the areas in and around Red Earth.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the RCMP Carrot River Squad.
“We appreciate all the help we receive, the help that comes,” said Red Earth chief Fabian Head. “We appreciate all prayers for the Red Earth and thank you for that.
