The Green Bay Packers signed Sammy Watkins for 1 year, up to $ 4 million

The Green Bay Packers finally added to their reception room by signing veteran Sammy Watkins.

It is a one-year deal worth up to $ 4 million, a source told ESPN’s Adam Shefter.

The Packers lost three of their best receivers this off-season, led by All Pro Davante Adams in an exchange with the Las Vegas Raiders. They also lost to Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Chiefs) and Equanimeous St. Brown (Bears) in the free position.

Top other Packers successors are Alan Lazard, Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers.

They didn’t use a pick in the first round of the 2002 successor (Javon Walker), but they have two spades in each of the first two rounds after the Adams exchange, which puts them in a position to handle that spot high in the draft.

Packers head coach Matt Lafleur coached Watkins with Rams in 2017, and Packers successor coach Jason Wrable was in Buffalo when the Bills selected him in fourth place in 2014.

Watkins, 28, has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career.

He continued to struggle with injuries in his only season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, ending with low career levels in receptions (27) and accepted yards (394).

He has missed 30 games in the last seven seasons and has not played a full season since his new season in 2014.

He made two of the biggest catches of the season for Baltimore, winning against the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, but Watkins had no catch – and only three targets – in his last four games, trailing Marquise Brown, Rashod Bateman and Devin. Duverney on the depth chart.

In his eight-year career, Watkins has made a total of 348 assists for 5,059 yards and 34 touchdowns for the Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Ravens.

ESPN’s Jamieson Hensley contributed to this report.
