In what he claims will be the last match of his 14-year career, Tyson Fury will defend his WBC and heavyweight titles on Saturday against interim champion Dillian White in London.
Few, of course, actually believe that the 33-year-old Fury (31-0-1, 22 KO) will leave forever, regardless of the outcome. Still, the event is big enough (ESPN + PPV, 14:00 ET) to attract the attention of the entire sports world, as the two huge heavyweights clash in their home country in front of a record crowd of 94,000 at Wembley Stadium.
The fight will be the first time Fury has fought anyone but former 2019 champion Deontay Wilder. It will be the first time Fury has returned to the UK after a 2018 victory over Francesco Pianetta in Northern Ireland.
“Dillian White is a good fighter,” Fury told a news conference on Wednesday. “He is a good, strong, solid man. He is big, he is strong [and] he is firm. He is a game, he has good strength. He knocked out many men. He also has a good academic career. He has a lot of experience in the fighting game. He is definitely a person who needs a lot of respect.
“That’s why I gave all this training camp we had. I had everything I could do to train for it. I have not left a stone unturned. I’ve trained as hard for Dillon as I have trained for Wilder or [Wladimir] Klitschko.

Fury had hoped to fight united champion Alexander Usik to open 2022 in an undisputed four-belt title match, but White (28-2, 19 KOs) and former champion Anthony Joshua are expected to face off. Usik this summer, refused to set aside money to clear the way.
Instead, the 34-year-old White is expected to bring a strong challenge to the 6-foot-9 Fury thanks to his 6-foot-4 frame, endurance and impact strength. White, who was born in Jamaica before emigrating to England, is 12-1 after losing by knockout to Joshua in 2015 and avenged one defeat – a devastating knockout in 2020 at the hands of Alexander Povetkin – by finishing it in their rematch five months later.
White has been Fury’s sparring partner in the past and won the champion’s respect during a series of difficult victories on the way up the ladder to the title dispute against such as Derek Chisora (twice), Robert Hellenius, Lucas Brown, Lucas Brown, Oscar Rivas, Mariusz Wah and former champion Joseph Parker.
“[Whyte] is a good fighter. The fans are really happy, “said Fury.” I know Dillon. I know him personally and he knows me. And we’ll do rock’n’roll on Fighting Night. We are ready to throw and treat us to a hellish storm. ”
White is known for his often quarrelsome ways in the past, which include leaving press conferences while protesting against his bag. He did a similar trick on February 28 by not appearing at the press conference at the beginning because he was upset that he did not receive a percentage of PPV sales as part of his deal.
The bags for this super fight are huge, as Fury is expected to win $ 29.5 million against the best in his career $ 7.4 million for White. The winner of the battle will also win an additional $ 4.1 million, as agreed by the two fighters.
“There was no strategy [in skipping the press conference,]”White has two sides to his story.” You only hear one side of the story, because one side says a lot. Because I didn’t say anything, everyone said “you’re scared” and “you’re hiding.” I’m not afraid of nonsense. I do not hide from nonsense. Necessary things to finish.
“[The fight] means everything. It’s massive. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. It’s a big battle. As Tyson said, we didn’t expect to be here. But I’m here, but I took risks again and again. I had a few passes along the way, but I’m here and I’m ready to go. You will not hear nonsense from me. I’m ready to go. ”
White told reporters that he must be adaptable to defeat the slippery Fury, which will have advantages of five inches in height and another seven inches in range. “I’m going to make smart decisions about when I need to do what and how I need to do it, and how I need to approach what I’m doing,” White said. “So that’s it. There’s no strategy here. That’s all. I just have to go in there and do my thing.”
The subcard is not filled with great value of the name, but Tommy Fury returns to the ring against Daniel Bocianski in the light heavyweight division. Tyson’s half-brother is 7-0 with four knockouts so far in his young career. At just 22, Tommy Fury is just beginning his journey. He had hoped to face social media star Jake Paul in a major event last December, but suffered an injury and was forced to retire. He now faces Boczyanski, a Polish fighter with a 10-1 record, but only two breaks in his autobiography.

Whether he is knocked out trying, or eventually booms himself, White has a decorated story against the elite race to get inside and turn things into a battle. Given Fury’s comments before the match, this is an inevitability that he seems to accept, which is why his predictions were constantly knocked out.
In many ways, Fury’s third fight against Wilder last fall was the perfect precondition for White’s challenge at the table. Although he came in after an 18-month hiatus due to the pandemic and was forced to get off the track twice in Wild Round 4, Fury clung and held up well against a bigger hitter on the way to a fierce 11th round final.
Fury’s performance was part of his long transition since his first fight against Wilder in 2018, when he surprisingly severed ties with coach Ben Davison in favor of the more aggressive SugarHill Steward, a student of his late uncle and Hall of Fame coach Emmanuel. Steward from the Kronk Gym in Detroit. Fury also took to heart his father John’s advice on weight gain as he gained more than £ 20 between the first and third matches with Wilder.
The main difference for Fury in preparing for White, unlike Wilder, is that White is far less rude to the technique he uses to adjust his power strikes. Therefore, Fury will have to properly mix his two styles as boxer and drummer. And if his public training this week was an indication that he was training from left to right, the Gypsy King probably has a few wrinkles on his sleeve to make White guess.
Eventually, White increases the pace consistently enough to where either he or you will be stopped. Although this type of challenge poses a danger to Fury, it is not something he has not dealt with and the difference between them in terms of hand speed and technique must be sufficient for Fury to create a buffer for his powerful blows. to handle clean.
Choice: Fury via TKO10
