WATCH: Beverley Boat Yard’s dramatic fire sends flames into the sky

The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was present in Beverly’s boat near Will on Saturday night after a ship caught fire.

The incident happened around 10 pm on Saturday, June 18, when a moored ship caught fire in the shipyard. The fire grew to great proportions and could be seen from a considerable distance.

Three fire engines were present and two hoses and jets were used to extinguish the fire. Now the fire has been put out.

A spokesman for Humberside Fire & Rescue said: “We were present at a fire in Beverly around 9.57pm on Saturday after a moored ship caught fire. Three appliances were present and two hoses and jets were used.

Beverly’s shipbuilding industry has been historically important, employing more than 650 people, building more than 1,300 ships and contributing to Britain’s efforts during World War II. Hundreds of trawlers were built and many of them were modified during World War II for military purposes.
