Tampa Bay Buchanaries, the close end of Rob Gronkowski again calls it a career.
Gronkowski, 33, announced his retirement on social media on Tuesday.
“I want to thank the whole first-class Buccaneers organization for the amazing trip, my confidence to come back to play and help build a champion team. Now I will return to my retirement home, moving away from football again with my head high, knowing that I give him everything I have, good or bad, every time I go out on the field, “Gronkowski said in a statement.
“The friendships and connections I have made will continue forever and I appreciate each and every one of my teammates and coaches for giving everything they have. From retirement, back to football and winning another championship and now back to retirement, thank you all. “
However, Gronkowski’s agent told Adam Shefter of ESPN that he would not be surprised if his client could be persuaded to retire for the second time by Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
“I won’t be surprised if Tom Brady calls him this season to come back and Rob answers,” Drew Rosenhaus told Scheffer. “That’s just my opinion, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back next season or next.”
Gronkowski had previously retired after the 2018 season with the New England Patriots due to injuries. Arizona’s second-round draft pick in 2010 largely attributed Brady to setting career expectations, and it was Brady who called him out of retirement in 2020 to play for the Bucs.
Although their personalities differed greatly – Gronkovsky was playful, fun-loving and never knew to have a bad day with coaches or teammates; Brady, methodical and intense – they developed a close relationship both on and off the field.
Gronkowski is the second key member of the Buccaneers’ attack to retire this year, after guard Ali Marpet, who retires in February. Brady himself announced his retirement in February, only to retire 40 days later.

The year for Gronkowski’s breakthrough came in 2011, when he set the NFL record for the most accepted touchdowns of 17. A year earlier, Gronk had revealed what became known as his landmark move – “Gronk Spike”, where he hit hard ball on the field after each touchdown he scored.
Gronkowski won four Super Bowls — three with the Patriots (XLIX, LI, LIII) and one with the Buccaneers (LV) in 2020, a game with two touchdowns, or “tuddies”, as he used to call them.
He was named the first All-Pro team in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2017 and was selected for five Pro Bowls (2011, ’12, ’14, ’15 and ’17). He led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in 2011 and was named NFL Returning Player of the Year in 2014. He was included in the NFL team throughout the 2010 decade and his team for the 100th anniversary of all times.
He left the game with the most touchdowns in his career with a tight end in history after the season (15) – and the second most in any position after only the successor Jerry Rice (22). He also has the most 100-yard tie-end games in NFL history and the most TDs in a season with a tie-end in league history (18 in 2011).
A total of 92 career touchdowns by Gronkowski are the 12th highest in NFL history and the third highest in the final position after Antonio Gates (116) and Tony Gonzalez (111). He was the only tight end in NFL history to publish three seasons with 1,000 yards and 10 plus touchdowns (2011, ’14, ’15).
