The washing of the road in Springfield provoked a warning from the police

Police in Springfield are warning residents to stay off the road, which has been blurred, saying they have seen some drivers move the barriers and cross it.

Manitoba 511 says Springfield Provincial Road 207 is closed due to water on the road, and the rest of PR 207 is only open to local traffic.

The Springfield Police Department shared a photo of the road on Facebook, warning people to stay out of the way. Photos from the area show that the ground under the road has been completely washed away.

“The road can collapse with any weight,” a Springfield police spokesman told CTV News.

Police said officers saw several drivers try to move the barricades and try to cross the road – which Springfield police said was a bad idea.

“Respect these signs. They are there for a reason, “the spokesman said.

The Springfield Police Department urges drivers to avoid the area and not try to cross the road, saying it is a safety risk and could result in fines for drivers who ignore a closed road sign.

The Springfield Police Department said it was one of several closed roads in the area due to flooding.

Springfield is among many parts of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, which is under a rainfall warning.

Environment Canada warns that in heavy rainfall between 30 and 50 millimeters, drivers must take precautions.

“Localized floods are possible in low-lying areas. Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water across the road can sweep away a vehicle or a person,” the warning said.
