Star Wars veterinarian explains Obi-Wan Kenobi’s final cameo, why he did it

The following contains a spoiler for casting from the finale of the season of Obi-Wan Kenobi at Disney +.

At the beginning of the first episode, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s protagonist was seen trying to communicate with Qui-Gon Jin, the Jedi Master with whom he trained, as in the first prequel to the Star Wars trilogy: Episode I – The Ghost Threat. But to no avail.

Until, that is, Obi-Wan collided not once, but twice again with Darth Vader, also known as his former Padawan Anakin Skywalker, and came to a slightly bitter end after their second duel with lightsabers in the Disney + series.

After leaving the critically wounded Darth behind on a barren moon, he packed his things at Tatooine and then said goodbye to the Lars – but not before officially meeting young Luke – Obi-Wan rode his eopia through the dunes. He did not stop until a familiar face stood in his way, bathed in the glow of a ghost of Power.

“Master Qui-Gon?”

“Well, I’ve looked at you enough,” laughed the late Jedi Master, played again by Liam Neeson.

“I was beginning to think you would never come.”

“I’ve always been here, Obi-Wan. You just weren’t ready to see. ” Qui-Gon then urged Obi-Wan to follow him, saying, “Come on, we have ways to go.”

Neeson played the role of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jin in Phantom Menace, and also voiced the character in episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and as part of an audio montage in Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. And although a year ago he rejected the idea of repeating the role in the Disney + series of former colleague Ewan McGregor (No, I don’t think so. No, I didn’t address myself, “he said in Jimmy Kimmel Live), here he is in the finale , shaggy locks and everything else.

Explaining his possible encore on our sister site THR, Neeson said. “I certainly didn’t want anyone else to play Qui-Gon Jin and I wanted to show my respect for him. [Star Wars creator] George [Lucas] and that mythical world he created.

“Besides, Ewan is a friend,” the Irishman added, “and I loved working with him during the Phantom Menace 25 years ago.”

Were you glad to see that Neeson was doing the right thing with George Lucas and old friend Ewan McGregor? But dare we hope to see him play Qui-Gon even further if Obi-Wan gets season 2?
