Despite the bright and sunny start this morning, most of the southwestern part today will have thunderstorms. Devon-based weather forecasts from the Met Office predict storms that will hit later this afternoon (June 25) in almost the entire region.
However, some areas need to be affected worse than others, and one area in particular will bear the brunt. So far this morning, several rains have accompanied the otherwise bright start throughout Cornwall, Plymouth and Devon.
West Cornwall, with only rain showers later this afternoon, is the only area where no thunderstorm is forecast. Instead, from about 17:00 onwards, you should get wet – with some sunny periods in between.

Moving east, mid-Cornwall will escape the morning forecast of which areas inland will have a thunderstorm, instead of being hit by one around 5 p.m. Otherwise, things look bright with a few souls.
In North Cornwall. however, thunder and lightning are forecast from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. However, it will be loose, with daily temperatures not falling below 15 degrees Celsius in the area.
Southeast Cornwall and Plymouth had a good start, but the Meteorological Service says that will change at 10 a.m. when a thunderstorm strikes. Another, according to forecasters, will arrive at 12 o’clock and again at 16 o’clock.
The same goes for Torbay and to Exeter, with an additional storm forecast at 7 p.m. Finally, northern Devon should not expect a pleasant afternoon, as the meteorological service says there will be storms almost non-stop from 12:00 to around 18:00.
The trip has the potential to be disrupted if the forecast for a thunderstorm comes true. Although this will not affect trains that remain canceled due to ongoing workers’ strikes.
A spokesman added: “There will be a day with sunny periods and heavy rainfall. Some of the rain will be heavy at times, with a possible strange rumble of thunder.
