The Weather Network – Heat and rain on Monday before temperatures drop in Ontario again

Sunday, April 24, 2022, 10:20 a.m. – The heat in Ontario will be short-lived due to oncoming cooling.

For some areas, especially southwestern Ontario, Monday will be one of those unique days when high temperatures occur in the early hours of the morning.

However, the prolonged heat will end abruptly as a cold front passes through southern Ontario from the west, sending temperatures down during the day.

Scattered rain will accompany the front as it passes through the countryside, especially in the afternoon and evening. We will see afternoon temperatures in the low to medium teens for much of the region.

There will be rain in the Greater Toronto (GTA) area, which will move in the afternoon, while strong southwesterly currents will lead to warmer temperatures. This may be the first day the city of Toronto reaches 20 degrees.

TUESDAY AND AFTER: AGAIN, COOLING IS BACK

The ridge on the upper level, which brought us a warm weekend, will move downstream and allow the upper level to take its place. This trough will bring much cooler air, which will create cold conditions until the middle of the week.

By Tuesday night, a rapid burst of Arctic air was moving to the lower reaches of the Great Lakes, with temperatures dropping around freezing. We could see the potential for snow in central and southern Ontario all Tuesday night.

Temperatures can be up to 10 ° C below seasonal until Wednesday. In fact, the upcoming series of sub-seasonal air will put parts of southern Ontario on par with the regions closer to the Arctic Circle. London, Ont., And regions near the Arctic Circle can expect the highest temperatures of about 2 ° C on Wednesday.

It seems that this period of sub-season conditions will last until early May.

Stay tuned to The Weather Network for the latest Ontario conditions.
