LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Two Los Angeles police officers were among three people taken to a local hospital after a car crash in downtown LA
Authorities say all three received non-life-threatening injuries and are in stable condition.
The crash happened on Sunday shortly after 4 pm in block 1000 on S. Main Street, near the entertainment complex LA Live, officials said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department, which responded to the scene, initially said the crash happened at the end of the chase. The LAPD later said police officers actually responded to a signal for a man with a gun.
As officers crossed the double yellow line to try to bypass traffic with lights and sirens on, the agency said a van made a left turn and crashed into a police vehicle.
Two other people refused medical care after the crash, according to the LAFD.
No further details were known immediately.
