Two men were killed in a head-on collision near a camp in Springdale on Saturday, the RCMP reported on Monday.

Police said the roads were wet from heavy rain and there was a build-up of water during the crash.

Police responded to the collision before 9:30 a.m. NT after two cars collided near the Blue Canoe camp.

One of the drivers, a 64-year-old man, was the only passenger in his car and died on the spot, according to a press release.

The driver of the second car, a 19-year-old man, later died at a hospital.

The RCMP said in an earlier statement that only the 64-year-old man had been killed.

A passenger in the second car was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. There was no up-to-date information on the person’s condition on Monday.

A police traffic analyst worked at the scene. The RCMP also said it was working with the chief medical officer’s office as part of the investigation.
