Stephen Miller will meet virtually with the commission on January 6

“It got a little crunchy,” the source said, suggesting that Miller was sometimes a difficult witness. During the meeting, some problems arose with the privileges of the executive branch, the source added.

Miller is summoned by the commission and opposes attempts to appear, including by blocking the commission’s ability to force him to submit documents and meet for an interview. In its summons from Miller, the commission cited the role it played in sharing false allegations of voter fraud in connection with the 2020 elections.

The Associated Press first reported on Miller’s planned testimony. The commission declined to comment. The interview comes after two Trump House attorneys appeared before the committee: former White House adviser Pat Chipolon and his deputy, Patrick Philbin. A source told CNN that former President Donald Trump allowed Chipolone to testify before the commission. Chipolone is a key player in the election saga in 2020 because he repulsed some of Trump’s more blatant attempts to undo the results.

Miller is one of Trump’s former employees who could provide the commission with details of what is happening in the White House on and until January 6, 2021.

In a letter of summons to Miller late last year, the commission noted that he, at his own expense, was “involved in efforts to spread false information about alleged voter fraud in the November 2020 elections, as well as in efforts to to encourage state legislatures to change the outcome of the November 2020 election by appointing alternative constituencies. “

Miller and his team also helped prepare for Trump’s speeches before the Ellipse uprising on January 6, 2021, were at the White House that day and were with the president when he spoke at the Stop Theft rally, the committee added.

Miller is just the last high-ranking Trump official to appear before the committee. Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the former president and former senior adviser, gave a one-hour interview in recent weeks. Her husband, Jared Kushner, also volunteered for the committee.
