Canada Day celebrations return to Cooper’s tent

The ceremonies begin at 2 pm on July 1, followed by entertainment and attractions throughout the day with fireworks in the evening.

Canada Day celebrations will return to Roberta Bondar’s tent, beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1, in a press release issued by the city of Salt St. Said Marie.

Entertainment will include Wild Stalyns, Tim Holland, Tianna Legacy and others, with fireworks covering the night. There will also be cotton candy, pizza, M & M’s barbecue and BeaverTails.

Some city facilities and services will be closed on July 1.

The following is a complete list of services concerned:

  • Cemetery office
  • City landfill and landfill for hazardous household waste
  • GFL Memorial Gardens, office and cash register
  • Arena and pool at John Rhodes Center, McMeeken Center and Northern Community Center
  • Ronald A. Irwin Civic Center
  • Senior Centers (Bay Street Active Living Center and Northern Community Center Seniors 55+)
  • Public Libraries – James L. McIntyre Century and the Northern Library
  • Public Works Office. For 24-hour emergency care, call 705-759-5201.
  • Salt Transit office

Garbage collection and recycling

On Friday, July 1, there is no garbage, leaves and waste from the yard or recycling. The gathering on Friday will be moved to Saturday.

Leaf from the leaves and the yard is collected on the planned garbage day every second week. To view the calendar for leaf and yard waste collection, visit saultstemarie.ca/leafyardwaste

The city dump will be closed on July 1. It will be open on Saturday, July 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The landfill for hazardous waste will also be closed on July 1. It will be open on Saturday, July 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Transit services

There will be no regular transit on July 1. Only Parabus will work.

Ermattinger National Historic Site ∙ Clerg

Open July 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Canada Day and Voyageur celebrations, including Sault Ste. Marie’s multi-day holiday from June 30 to July 3.

Marine facilities

Both ports are open on July 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Bellevue Marina – open From July 2 to September 5 Monday to Thursday from 11 am to 7 pm Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm
  • Cooper Marina – open From July 2 to September 5 Monday to Thursday from 11 am to 7 pm Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm

Season tickets are $ 66 and are available from the fuel booth at Bellevue Marina during regular business hours or at the Civic Center’s Community Development and Corporate Services office. A debit or credit card is preferred. Boaters can also download the Passport Parking mobile app and use area 3759 for daily starts.

Outdoor pools / Splash Pad

The Peter G. Manzo and VE Greco swimming pools are open from 13:00 until 19:00, weather permitting.

The Bellevue Park Splash Pad is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
