Environment Canada issued a report of a strong thunderstorm for Okanagan, including Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon, but not for Kamloops at 7:30 a.m.

Weather conditions on Tuesday are favorable for the development of strong thunderstorms, which can lead to strong gusts of wind, heavy hail and heavy rain.

The latest lightning strikes can be found on Google Maps and showed a lot of activity since Tuesday morning.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year and is also responsible for setting forest fires.

Environment Canada releases watches for severe thunderstorms when the weather conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms, which can cause one or more of the following: heavy hail, destructive winds and torrential rains.
