Wimborn rape investigation: A 32-year-old man has been arrested

Police received a report that a woman over the age of 50 was raped by a man on Poole Road sometime around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

An investigation into the incident was initiated by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).

Following an investigation, a 32-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of rape.

He was released on bail.

Police called on all witnesses to appear, including a man who stopped talking to the victim and a group of six pedestrians.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour of MCIT said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would like to call again all witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

“I would especially like to hear from a man driving a flatbed truck that stopped to talk to the victim around 11.15 pm. I am also calling for a group of six female pedestrians walking along Poole Road to Merley at around 11.30 pm. to connect.

“I would also urge all drivers with a control camera who have been nearby, as well as residents with home CCTV systems or bell cameras, to check their night shots for anything that can help our inquiries.

“There is still an increased police presence in the area and anyone with information or concerns can contact staff.
