The body of a 10-year-old Wisconsin girl was found a day after she was reported missing.
Liliana’s remains were found at around 9:15 a.m. Monday in a wooded area near a footpath by the Leinenkugel brewery at Chipeva Falls.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with the fourth-grader’s death. Police are investigating the death as a possible murder.
“We would like to express our deepest condolences to Lily Peters’ family and friends during this tragic moment,” said Chipeva Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm.
He also warned the public that there could still be a threat to their safety in the community.
“We encourage anyone with information to contact the Chipeva Falls Police Department and remain vigilant, as there may be danger to the public,” he said.
According to police, Lily was last seen leaving her aunt’s house on Sunday night. They believe she headed home, but never arrived. Her father called police around 9pm to report her disappearance.
Police began searching for the girl on Sunday night, eventually finding her bicycle near a wooded area near a footpath near her aunt’s house. When their initial search failed to locate the girl, additional police units, including K9 teams and drones , were asked to help.

Police have created new information about the investigation into the Lily Peters case and are urging anyone with information to call – especially since no one has been arrested yet.
“The simple fact is that we have not made an arrest in this case, so the suspect is still at large,” Chipeva Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm said Monday night.

Police say the case “passed” into a homicide investigation when the remains were found
At an unspoken press conference Monday night, police said the Lily Peters case had become a murder investigation as soon as her body was found.
“Once we found the deceased, he went from missing person to what we consider to be a murder investigation,” said Chipeva Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm. “I cannot say what the evidence is or the specifics of this decision.

Leinenkugels issued a statement after the remains of 10-year-old girl Lily Peters were found in a wooded area near the brewery in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
“This is an indescribable, heartbreaking tragedy and we want to express our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends. We are working with the authorities and providing the help and support we can,” the company said.

He told reporters to expect an update around 5:00 PM CST, 6:00 PM EST.
