Jonathan Davis made an incredible catch against Reyes

ST. PETERSBURG – Brewers midfielder Jonathan Davis was sent off on Wednesday afternoon after his head crashed into the wall of Tropicana Field after a spectacular run and dive in the second inning, depriving Randy Arozarena of extra bases.

Davis was examined by the team’s coach and an ambulance was brought to the field. But Davis initially chose to stay in the game and play during the last two innings of the inning. In the third, he was removed with discomfort in his lower back and chest.

Davis stepped back along the line of Arozarena, then dived near the warning track and threw the ball before his head hit the wall. Davis’s cap flew off, but the ball remained stuck in his glove. As Davis writhed in pain, initially holding his lower back, Arozarena raced around the bases in a moment of confusion, thinking there might be a Homer in the park. But the call was made.

Several of Davis’ teammates sprinted to the center field, looking for help. After being examined, Davis removed from the cart and was seen smiling.

Davis hit ninth and hit his only plate. When Davis left, right fielder Tyrone Taylor moved to the center and Jace Peterson was inserted to the right.
