FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Reports say the active shooter and barricade situation in Floyd County is over.
Kentucky State Trooper Matt Gayheart said KSP Post 9 in Pikeville responded to a call just after 6:30 p.m. for a complaint of shots fired at an officer, after which the situation escalated into an active shooter.
The shooter is now in custody and there is no threat to public safety.
WMDJ FM 100.1 reports that the two hostages — the gunman’s wife and daughter — are safe.
Mountain Top News reports that deputies went to a home on Railroad Street to serve a warrant earlier Thursday evening, and as soon as officers approached the house, they came under fire.
The man then barricaded himself in the house and exchanged gunfire with the police. Several employees were reportedly injured and sent to a local hospital.
It has not been confirmed how many people were shot or the severity of their injuries.

According to WMDJ FM 100.1, there is an active shooting incident in Floyd County.
The station reports that Kentucky State Police and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department are on an active shooter in the town of Allen. The incident reportedly started around 4pm as a domestic dispute.
WMDJ confirmed that one person had been shot and that the situation had turned into a barricade.
ATF Louisville confirmed that offices in Ashland and London also responded to the scene of a shooting and armed barricades in Floyd County.

Ralph Davis with Mountain Top News said there were a number of state police teams and ambulances near the New Allen traffic light.

KY Route 1428 between Citizens Bank of KY and Allen Curve is currently closed. The incident was reported to be on Main Street.
Multiple law enforcement offices are sharing posts of support and prayer for officers on scene in Floyd County.
The Hodgenville Police Department wrote: “Reports from Floyd County, Kentucky say multiple law enforcement officers have been shot and the scene is still active. Please pray for our brothers tonight as they will certainly need them.’
The Magoffin County Sheriff’s Department shared, “Our hearts are heavy tonight.
We would like to ask that you pray for our fellow law enforcement officers and first responders who are dealing with the critical situation in Allen.
Every day when an officer goes out, he never knows if he will make it back home. These are special people with a desire to put the lives of others before their own. Please lift them up…they need you right now!”
