A man who killed a South Carolina police officer over the weekend did so deliberately, tracking him down with his rifle before firing the deadly shot, a police chief told a news conference on Tuesday.
Casey Roy’s public safety officer Andrew “Drew” Barr was shot and killed Sunday after answering a call for domestic violence shortly before 3 a.m. when a woman told the dispatch that a man was threatening her and her child with a rifle , the department said.

The man, later identified as 36-year-old Austin Lee Henderson, was intentional in his actions, shooting Bar once inside the home, then shooting again at a group of officers trying to pull Bar to safety, the police chief in Casey Chris Cowen I said.

Henderson reportedly shot his wife and daughter in a closet after shooting at police, holding them hostage for hours before dying from a self-inflicted wound, police said.

The wife and daughter were not physically injured in the situation, although police said they were upset.

The bar, which survived a shooting in 2017 when he was an intern, was loved by his community, the police chief said.
The motive for the shooting is unknown and Chief Cowan did not answer questions at the press conference for clarification.
