Kelowna’s RCMP says a second man was injured when he was stabbed Monday night at Gordon Drive and Harvey Avenue.

Police were called to the intersection at 8:45 p.m. Monday and found a 38-year-old man with stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital, where he died.

Initial eyewitness reports suggested that two people were injured in the incident, and police confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that a 28-year-old passer-by was also injured. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital, where he received medical treatment and was released.

A 22-year-old man has been detained at the scene and is currently being held by police while an investigation is underway.

“The investigation is being led by Kelowna’s Serious Crimes Unit and investigators have learned that there was a verbal quarrel between those involved that led to the stabbing. The victims and the suspect were not known to each other “, says cpl. Tammy Lob from RCMP Kelowna.

“We ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have footage from the board to come and call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.

At least two people may have been stabbed, one seriously, on Harvey Avenue and Gordon Drive in Kelowna.

Ashton Light told Castanet News that he was stopped at a red light when he saw a man on the ground.

Light says he got out of his car and took care of the man.

He says a woman and her husband said her boyfriend had been stabbed.

“His eyes were empty, he was white as a ghost,” Light said.

He says he opened the man’s jacket, lifted his shirt and saw a two-inch slit just below the man’s left nipple.

“I was on the phone with 911, telling them that this man had been stabbed when another man came to me and said that he had also been stabbed.

The RCMP has erected two privacy barriers at the site of Harvey’s incident directly opposite Dairy Queen.

Castanet turned to the local RCMP for more information.
