A “potentially life-threatening” tornado has been reported in central Alberta

Tornado warnings for several regions in Alberta have been canceled after a tornado was spotted in central Alberta.

Environment Canada issued tornado warnings for multiple regions Tuesday afternoon, which have since been downgraded.

Hanna – Coronation – Oyen and Lloydminster – Wainwright – Vermilion – Provost had severe thunderstorm warnings as of 4:00 PM MT. Both areas were also under a tornado watch.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, a tornado was reported with the thunderstorm five kilometers north of Alliance, although it weakened soon after.

Alliance is about 100 miles east of Red Deer.

“This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” the warning said.
