Putin promises revenge against nations that “intervene” in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened the West on Wednesday, promising “lightning” revenge against any nation that intervened in its invasion of Ukraine.

“If anyone decides to intervene in current events [in Ukraine] from the outside and creates unacceptable strategic threats to Russia [they] we need to know that our response, our retaliatory strikes, will be lightning fast, “Putin told Russian lawmakers, according to the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainskaya Pravda.

“We have all the tools for this – ones that no one else can boast about at the moment. And we will not brag – we will use them if necessary! ” – continued the Russian president. “And everyone should know about it!” All decisions in this regard have already been made. “

Putin also promised to continue his invasion of Ukraine, focusing on the eastern provinces.

“I want to emphasize again that all the tasks of the special military operation we are conducting in Donbass and Ukraine, launched on February 24, will be unconditionally fulfilled,” he said.

His comments were reportedly met with applause.

The threats came when Russian state media casually mentioned the nuclear destruction of New York and the United Kingdom, all within days of Russia’s testing of its latest nuclear-capable ballistic missile.

Western officials have dismissed much of Russia’s nuclear rhetoric as a jingle of swords, saying Russia has not made changes to its nuclear stance to justify a change to the West.

However, Russia has turned to economic sticks, cutting off natural gas to NATO members, Poland and Bulgaria, and threatening to limit sales to even more Western countries.

“It is no surprise that the Kremlin is using fossil fuels to try to blackmail us,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday. “Today, the Kremlin has again failed in its efforts to sow division among member states. The era of Russian fossil fuels in Europe is coming to an end.
