Sault Ste. Marie Police arrested a 34-year-old man after a vehicle of interest was spotted on one of the automated license plate readers.
The vehicle entered the Sault Ste. Marie at around 4pm on July 7 and police located the vehicle on Great Northern Road.
Cody Marshall of Tarbutt and Tarbutt Township was arrested for failure to appear on a summons, but police searched him and allegedly found ammunition and approximately 12.57 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine.
“The movement of poison and weapons into and through our community will be limited through the use of ALPR technology,” Chief Hugh Stevenson said in a press release. “It’s a win for this community.”
Marshall was charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Operation while disabled
- Driving while stopped
- Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order x4
Automated license plate readers went into use on June 13.
