A 6-year-old boy in Connecticut is recovering in hospital after another man allegedly covered a tennis ball with gasoline and threw it at him on Sunday, causing second- and third-degree burns.
Police in Bridgeport, Connecticut, said unsupervised children had been spotted setting fire to objects and playing with petrol on Sunday, according to Fox 5 New York.
Dominic Crancal, 6, was found seriously injured by Bridgeport police and taken to a local hospital. The report states that the 6-year-old has a swollen face and a long recovery, but in the end there may be minimal scarring as a result of the accident.

Police said the investigation was “very active” and said more details would be provided.
Crancal’s sister, Kayla Deegan, said Dominic could have been burned to death.
“It led to this: my little brother was lying in a hospital bed that could burn to death,” Deegan said. “He can barely sleep, he can barely eat, he can barely talk. It’s just not fair, just to see him like that makes me want to break.”
Deegan told NBC New York that another neighbor was the one who threw the gasoline-covered tennis ball at Crancal.

“What he did was pour gasoline on a tennis ball, take a lighter, light it, and just throw it right in my brother’s face – and then run away from him and watch him burn,” Deegan said.
No charges have been filed.

The family-run GoFundMe has raised nearly $ 130,000 and says the incident was the result of harassment.
An update published in the fundraising campaign states that Crancal’s condition is improving, but he will have to lie in bed for months.
