Calgary man charged with murder in 2014 manslaughter case

Calgary police say a 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with the 2014 death of Colton Crawshaw.

Authorities arrested Wiley Provost Thursday after an eight-year investigation into the murder.

Provost has been charged with second-degree murder in Crowshoe’s death.

The victim’s body was found in a reservoir in northeast Calgary on July 24, 2014, weeks after he was reported missing.

Police say Croushu and the accused knew each other and had left a house party together where the victim was last seen.

Authorities believe an argument broke out at some point and Croushu’s body was then dumped in the lake.

The victim’s family says the news of the arrest brings them some comfort.

“We never gave up,” said Lillian Croushu, Colton’s aunt. “As a family, we stuck together and made it happen. I would just like to thank everyone who pitched in and helped our family, everyone who prayed for the family.

“Today we got justice.”

Rector is expected in court on July 13.
