Two men accused of separate seizures of firearms at a restaurant, Edmonton Bar

Two men are facing charges after police seized two firearms in separate restaurants and bars this year, the Edmonton Police Department said Thursday.

On February 27, EPS’s gang suppression team took a “proactive walk” through a restaurant on 99 Street and Jasper Avenue, where they encountered a group known to police and asked them to leave.

Officers found a loaded pistol in an abandoned bag, which they say belonged to a member of the group – 27-year-old Tysean Wawryk.

Wawryk fled on foot when police called him in front of the restaurant, EPS said, but he was arrested while trying to enter a hotel a little later.

During another active walk through a bar on 103 Street and 81 Avenue on April 8, police noticed a man running through the crowd to the back room, where they said he threw a loaded gun on a couch and fled the bar.

Indirdip Sidhu, 27, was arrested outside.

Police said he also had another person’s ID card.

Wawrik and Sidhu face several charges related to firearms.

“Although unrelated, both arrests illustrate the proliferation of illegal firearms in our community,” said a staff sergeant. Eric Stewart.
