Clubhouse gets support for dark mode on iOS and Android (finally!)

Finally, Clubhouse is now getting a long-awaited feature for both Android and iOS! And yes, you guessed it: the live audio chat app is about to get support for dark mode. 9to5Mac reports that the wait for dark mode support is almost over for Clubhouse mobile users, but it may take some time before the option becomes available to everyone.

Clubhouse gets support for dark mode on iOS and Android

“Not the mode you need, but the mode you deserve,” Clubhouse said in its official blog post about the feature, noting that it’s a long-awaited feature for its users. On top of that, Clubhouse also noted that it is aware of layouts and settings that show what dark mode would look like if it were available for Clubhouse. To a large extent, support for dark mode in Clubhouse will work just like any other application that supports it. This feature is now distributed to all users, although it may take some time for everyone to receive it.

Interestingly, instead of a completely black interface, the Clubhouse app has chosen a dark mode with a velvety dark background and light text (but not exactly white). This color combination should make the application more convenient to use at night, according to the blog post.

As you can imagine, you will get the option to activate dark mode based on the device settings or just use Clubhouse in dark mode all the time.

You must have the latest version of the application installed on your phone to take advantage of the dark mode. Keep in mind that Clubhouse notes that it may take a few days for everyone with iOS and Android to receive the update, but it should come to your phone soon.

Other recent Clubhouse features you may like

We recently announced that Clubhouse is working on another very interesting feature for its users: chat games. The thing is that this feature is still being tested, so it is not yet widespread and we do not currently have a timeline for its release. The game with which this feature will debut is called Wild Cards, which consists of a series of questions to start conversations between you and your friends. We’ll see how that happens once it’s released, but for now it sounds like it could be something exciting to try with your friends.

However, if you are more shy, Clubhouse has not forgotten about you. Another great feature (and this one is not being tested, but is now official) is in-room chat, for those of you who don’t mind the microphone. This new feature will work like any chat room during a live audio session and allow you to send text of your answers or share jokes or reactions. It can also be useful if you don’t want to interrupt the person speaking.

Additionally, voice room moderators can delete chat messages. In general, creators can assign modifications to monitor chat and delete messages if they are deemed inappropriate.

It is understandable, however, that if there are hundreds or thousands of people in the room, the task of moderating comments in a chat will really be quite difficult. As a creator, you can also delete chat messages at any time and even after the live session ends.

Last but not least, Clubhouse recently introduced Wave Bar, which shows which of your friends are currently online so you can easily start a new audio room with them. The Wave Bar opens social rooms, not private ones. This largely means that the friends of all participants in the audio chat will be able to join the conversation. Understandably, there is always the option to decide to keep the conversation private: there is an option to quickly lock the room as private if you decide you want.
