On Wednesday morning, police in Sarnia caught a driver twice speeding.
Shortly before 10 a.m., a police officer conducting radar in the area of Vidal Street and St. Clair Street observed a vehicle moving at 102 kilometers per hour in the declared 50 zone.
The officer tried to stop the vehicle, which allegedly continued at high speed and issued a stop sign. Police said the driver then lost control and hit a curb, damaging the car and rendering it inoperable.
A 25-year-old from Knightwright was arrested and charged with fleeing from the police, dangerous driving, driving while suspended, and racing a motor vehicle.
The car was detained for 14 days.
