While Porsche’s automatic dual-clutch transmission in the Turbo and Turbo S is brilliant, it can never completely replace a manual. The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic coupe corrects this by coming exclusively with a seven-speed manual transmission. As for the Porsche 911 Sport Classic engine, this is the familiar 3.7-liter flat six with a twin turbo. However, its output has been reduced due to its pairing with management. Now, producing 543 hp. and 442 lb-ft of torque, that’s still enough to make this the most powerful 911 manual ever. All this power is directed exclusively to the rear wheels.
We don’t expect the Sport Classic to match the time of 0-60 mph on the 911 Turbo in 2.7 seconds, but it will still be damn fast. The manual transmission is equipped with an automatic flashing function to compensate for fluctuations in engine speed when shifting gears, and the sports muffler is uniquely tuned for a particularly emotional soundtrack. The suspension, based on the 911 Turbo and 911 GTS, comes with Porsche’s active suspension control system.
Porsche claims a combined consumption of 12.6 liters per 100 km in the WLTP cycle, which means approximately 18.6 mpg. However, EPA ratings have not yet been published.
