UPDATE 29/4/22: More games that are likely to join the upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium service have been found on Sony’s servers, in addition to the three originally found below.
Data for the classic version of the all-time PS1 Worms Armageddon, as well as its subsequent Worms World Party, were also noticed (thanks, Gematsu).
As a reminder, PlayStation has yet to officially confirm the games that will join its Premium service when it launches on June 22 in Europe
ORIGINAL STORY 28/4/22: Sony’s updated PlayStation Plus is not far off now, with the company currently aiming for launch on June 22 in Europe, but questions about the service still remain, especially with regard to the gaming library which will be available to higher level subscribers. But while Sony’s lips remain officially sealed, it seems that the first batch of retro games coming in the highest premium class have begun to leak to PSN.
The new Premium level of PlayStation Plus gives subscribers access to about 340 additional games outside the library of 400 titles for PS4 and PS5 included in the additional middle class level, focusing on retro games from PlayStation 1, PS2, PS3 and PSP. Sony has not yet offered details on the two libraries, but Reddit users have noticed that new ads for classic titles full of new thumbnails are starting to appear in PSN’s backend, heading for the launch of PlayStation Plus’ retro games.
Of course, there are currently only three such titles, all from Bandai Namco – Tekken 2 and Mr. Driller for PlayStation 1 and Ridge Racer for PSP – but this suggests that gateways are slowly opening up as publishers move to prepare their classic titles for the release of the new PlayStation Plus.
Eurogamer Newscast: Is PlayStation Plus Premium a killer Game Pass?
Of course, with the 340 classic games that will be available as part of the PlayStation Plus Premium on June 22, there is still a long way to go until we have a complete list (I hope you’ll forgive me if I don’t write a new article for each small batch which has been spotted on PSN from now on – unless the Gregory Horror Show isn’t there, obviously), and we still have no idea what will be included in these 400 games for PS4 and PS5 beyond the confirmed Death Stranding, God of War, Spider-Man of Marvel, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal.
It would be fair to say that Sony’s approach to answering frequently asked questions about the new PlayStation Plus service has been at its best so far – it has just come to the point of telling PlayStation Now customers what will happen to existing ones. their subscriptions yesterday – but hopefully, with an upcoming launch in June, will soon pick up the pace.
